GUERRILLA GIRLS DEMAND A RETURN TO TRADITIONAL VALUES ON ABORTION, PRO-CHOICE MARCH
We carried this poster in the prochoice march on Washington D.C., urging right-to-lifers—and the Catholic Church—to repent their sinful, modern ideas.

This poster was inspired by William Kennedy Smith and all the other guys who get away with it.

WHAT'S NEW AND HAPPENING AT THE GUGGENHEIM FOR THE DISCRIMINATING ART LOVER?
When the Guggenheim Museum opened a branch in SoHo, it was rumored that no women or artists of color had been chosen for the inaugural exhibit. With WAC, the Women's Action Coalition, we instigated a postcard-writing campaign that dumped thousands of these pink slips on the desk of Director Thomas Krens. Soon word reached us that sculptor Louise Bourgeois was to be included.
The night of the Guggenheim opening, WAC staged a big, noisy protest in front of the museum. Inspired by the old joke that a bag over a woman's head makes us all the same, we passed out gorilla bags for people to wear into the exhibit. Hundreds did, including Bourgeois.

SUPREME COURT JUSTICE SUPPORTS RIGHT TO PRIVACY FOR GAYS AND LESBIANS.
We hung the Justice with his own words, but it was not a unanimous sentence. "I fought against it to the death," said Guerrilla Girl Anaïs Nin. "As an African American, I know that politically, we as a people cannot afford to lose a powerful seat on the Supreme Court. But alas, I was outvoted. I get my revenge by refusing to show the poster when I go on gigs."

HORMONE IMBALANCE. MELANIN DEFICIENCY.
THE POSTER THAT INTIMIDATED PACE GALLERY INTO SHOWING A WOMAN UNDER 50
This was our response to a New York Times Magazine cover of October 3, 1993, which featured Arne Glimscher of Pace Gallery, art dealer to the movie moguls, with his "art world all-stars"—all middle-aged white males. ("All-Stars" from left to right. Seated in front: John Chamberlain, Chuck Close, Arnold Glimcher, Saul Steinberg, second row: Donald Judd, Robert Mangold, Jim Dine third row: George Condo, Robert Ryman, Joel Shapiro, Lucas Samaras.)

SORRY SWEETIE. WAY TO GO, DUDE!
At the 1994 conference of the College Art Association, where would-be art professors interview for jobs, we had Gorillas passing out these fliers. For at least fifteen years, the majority of art students in the U.S. have been female, while full-time faculty has remained overwhelmingly male. One of the schools listed is a virtual harem, with 90 percent women students and an all-male faculty.
